Aviation Maintenance School To Open At Md. Airport

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A new aviation maintenance technology school is set to open at the Hagerstown Regional Airport in the spring.

The Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics has been approved for a grant of more than $272,000 to help establish the school. The director of the institute, James Mader, says officials learned this week that the grant request had been approved. The school plans to train students to receive Federal Aviation Administration certification as airframe and powerplant technicians.

The school is now accepting applications, and the goal is to begin training students in April.
