MOUNT AIRY, Md. (AP) — The State Highway Administration says an accident has closed eastbound Interstate 70 near Mount Airy.

Doug Alexander, a spokesman for the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company, tells WFMD-AM that the accident early Tuesday morning involved a tractor-trailer carrying chemicals. Alexander says the tractor-trailer jackknifed and hazmat crews have responded to the scene.

Maryland State Police say the truck was carrying refrigerants, wood sealant and embalming fluid. It was not immediately known how long the roadway would be closed.

Alexander says the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Wasn’t this the scene of an accident involving a truck yesterday? Same old cowboy mentality these truck drives are bullies on the highway.

@ moleman It doesn’t have anything to do with a cowboy mentality and you can not class all truck drivers as bullies. You need to find out facts first. How about putting some blame on the idiots in these little cars. Thinks a tractor trailer can stop on a dime!
