Police Probe Disruption Of Emergency Communication

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police are investigating a disruption to its emergency communications center's wireless trunk lines during the snowstorm.

Officers say about 11 p.m. Wednesday, the emergency center was notified by neighboring call centers that there were problems with calls being received from wireless phones.

Officials contacted the service provider, Verizon, and the problem was fixed in 15 minutes.

Police say Verizon did not notify them of the outage, which the company had promised to do.

A Verizon spokeswoman says it is investigating the incident.
