Mikulski Hires Frederick Woman As State Director

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski is naming a former Frederick County official as her state director. 

The Maryland Democratic said Tuesday she has chosen Democrat Jan Gardner to run her state offices and help with constituent service. 

Gardner was a Frederick County commissioner from 1998 to December 2010. She spent her last four years as board president. 

She served as president of the Maryland Association of Counties in 2007. 

Gardner earned her bachelor of business administration in finance and economics from the University of Notre Dame and her master of business administration from Xavier University.
