Girl, 4, In Minivan Carjacked At D.C. Hospital

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Authorities say a 4-year-old girl who was in a minivan that was carjacked in northwest Washington was later put out alone on a city street by the thief.

D.C. police say a woman was getting into the van at the Children's National Medical Center on Wednesday night when a man took the vehicle with her daughter inside. The man drove a few blocks away, where he put the girl out and drove off.

A cable company employee who saw the child huddled under the bumper of a car and crying alerted police.

The girl was not seriously injured.

About a half hour after the vehicle was stolen, Prince George's County police stopped the minivan and arrested the driver. D.C. police say the man has been charged with unarmed carjacking.
