Morgan State Rallies To Beat S.C. State 72-66

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- DeWayne Jackson scored 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers, and Morgan State overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat South Carolina State 72-66 on Monday night. 

After the score was tied for the 10th time at 63 with 4:48 to go, the Bears pulled away on 6-of-9 free-throw shooting and a Jackson 3-pointer. The Bulldogs did not make a field goal in the final 5:53. 

Morgan State (12-10, 8-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) has won nine of the past 11 contests against South Carolina State, including 71-55 on Jan. 15 and 68-61 in the 2010 MEAC Tournament final. 

The Bears opened with a 10-0 lead, then the Bulldogs (6-19, 2-10) went on a 25-6 run, eventually building a 40-30 lead. 

Ameer Ali added 14 points for Morgan State, which has won three of four. 

Brandon Riley had 17 points and Tyvon Williams had 10 assists for South Carolina State, which has lost 10 of its last 11.
