Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Prince George's County

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a pedestrian is dead after being struck by a truck. 

Police say the accident happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday when the driver of a Ford F-150 was attempting to change lanes in the 6500-block of Pennsylvania Ave. and struck a man wearing dark clothing. 

Police say the driver fled the scene but was later detained by Maryland State Police. 

The pedestrian, identified as Dedrick Antoine Harvey, 23, of southeast Washington, was transported to a local hospital where he was declared dead. 

Police say there were no crosswalks in the area. An investigation is ongoing.
