2 People Rescued After Truck Falls Into Md. Creek

LITTLE ORLEANS, Md. (AP) -- Allegany County authorities say two people have been rescued after their pickup truck fell into a creek.

Police say they received a call about a pickup truck in the Sideling Hill Creek about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The caller told police that people were trapped inside the truck amid freezing and fast-moving water.

Rescue officials used a boat to rescue a man and woman, as well as their dog, from the truck. The man and woman, of Little Orleans, were treated at the scene.

Numerous fire and emergency and rescue crews from the area assisted with the rescue.

Police say the driver of the truck had apparently attempted to cross the rain-swelled creek at an area that is normally passable.
