Prince George's County Police Shoot, Kill Man

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County Police shot and killed a man they say was threatening people with a handgun in a neighborhood near FedEx Field.

Authorities say the man, who they were still trying to identify, pointed a gun at a teenage boy Monday and other residents reported that he was acting strangely as he walked up and down a street.

Officers arrived and told the man to drop his weapon. But police spokeswoman Capt. Misty Mints says that when the man brandished the gun toward them, four officers opened fire.

The man was taken to a hospital and police said later that he'd died.

Mints says none of the officers was hurt in the shooting.

It was unclear how many shots were fired or whether the man had fired at officers.
