Md. Yacht Club Using Fake Reefs To Calm Waters
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A yacht club in Annapolis has an unusual solution to the problem of rough waters: artificial reefs for oysters.
The Eastport Yacht Club had wanted to install a solid wall to protect boats in its marina from rough waters, but environmental regulators would only allow a partial wall, which club members say doesn't do enough to stop rough waves.
Regulators did, however, approve the installation of the artificial concrete reefs designed by an Alabama company, which club members hope will solve their problem.
Officials are now trying to figure out the best way to install the reef.
