Police Confirm ID Of Body Found In Trunk In Md.

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (AP) -- Authorities have confirmed that a body found in the trunk of car in Maryland was that of a 22-year-old man who had been reported missing.

Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a Prince George's County police spokesman, says a state medical examiner confirmed the body's identification as that of Maurice Bynum. Authorities have not yet determined how Bynum died. Rodriguez says the case is being treated as a death investigation, not a homicide.

Police discovered Bynum's body in the trunk of his sister's car at the county impound lot this week. Bynum's mother reported her son missing in November. She also reported the car stolen at that time.

Police say an officer ran the car's license plate in January, but the fact that it was reported stolen did not come up.
