Anne Arundel Co. Police Investigate Shooting At Marley Station Mall

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) --  There were gunshots outside a Marley Station department store Tuesday.  One person was rushed to Shock Trauma.

Weijia Jiang reports now police are hunting for two suspects.

Police say it appears this was the result of a drug deal gone bad, one that was going down in the middle of a busy mall parking lot just as a busy lunch hour was wrapping up.

Just shy of 1 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to investigate a shooting at the Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie.

"We heard like a real faint popping sound and people going frantic," said one witness.

"I saw a couple people running and taking off into their cars," said one.  "Something just happened really bad."

Shoppers told WJZ they heard gunfire from right inside the scene, a packed parking lot between a popular department store and restaurant.

"It looks like there was some sort of altercation in the parking lot involving several suspects that resulted in an adult male being shot in the upper torso," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police spokesperson.

Police say after he was shot, the victim got into a car with two people who drove to a coffee shop about a half mile away.  From there, they called police for help.

The victim was transported to Shock Trauma.  Police say two suspects escaped southbound on Ritchie Highway.

The shooting is the second high-profile case at the mall this month.  On March 5, police say Andre Ennis beat a 61-year-old woman in the parking lot before stealing her car.

A spokesman for the mall says there is security on the site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  They say they're adding patrols.

Police believe the suspects fled in a dark gray Honda.  They urge anyone with tips to contact them.
