Orioles Send Hardy To DL, Recall Bergesen
NEW YORK (AP) -- The Baltimore Orioles have placed shortstop J.J. Hardy on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 10 because of a strained muscle on his left side, and recalled right-hander Brad Bergesen from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles made the move after they were certain Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees was going to be played despite inclement weather in the area.
Hardy left Saturday's game against Texas after one at-bat and had missed two previous games with a similar injury.
Bergesen started one game this season, allowing two runs in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to Detroit before being sent down. With Brian Matusz and Justin Duchscherer on the DL, Bergesen will likely start Sunday at Cleveland.
