Assateague Island Waives Fees For Park Week
BERLIN, Md. (AP) -- Assateague Island National Seashore is waiving its entrance fee for National Park Week, allowing free access to the shore in both Maryland and Virginia.
Entrance fees will be waived beginning Saturday through April 24. The park also will hold special programs on April 23 for National Junior Ranger Day.
Assateague Superintendent Trish Kicklighter says park week is a good chance for visitors to return or see the national seashore for the first time. Two visitor centers offer exhibits, tours and aquarium talks.
Entrance fees also will be waived at all other National Park Service sites that normally charge a fee.
