Judge To Rule In Montgomery Co. Labor Dispute

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A labor dispute in Montgomery County is now in the hands of a judge.

Circuit Court Judge Robert Greenberg said Friday he plans to issue a ruling Monday in a dispute between the county and a public employees union representing a wide variety of workers.

A union lawsuit is demanding that County Executive Isiah Leggett rewrite his budget after the first one he proposed failed to include the results of binding arbitration. Leggett says he has the authority under the collective-bargaining law to propose whatever budget he sees fit.

Greenberg has multiple options in deciding which way to rule, including directing the dispute to a labor-relations administrator.
