Jury Convicts Baltimore Man In Cabbie's Slaying

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A jury in Baltimore has convicted a Baltimore man of first-degree murder in the slaying of a Frederick taxicab driver.

Robert Lee Murphy,24, was found guilty Wednesday in the January 2009 shooting death of Stephen Mauk.

Sentencing is set for June 23.

Mauk was found dead in his Yellow Cab Co. car in Baltimore early on the morning of Jan. 26, 2009.

Testimony revealed that Mauk had picked up his last known fare earlier that night in Frederick for what was to have been a one-mile trip.

The trial began April 19. Murphy's first trial on the charges last year ended in a mistrial.
