WEIRTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Union workers at former Severstal North America plants have approved a new contract with RG Steel LLC. United Steelworkers officials announced Thursday that about 57 percent of the union members who voted approved the agreement.
Details of the contract and the number of votes weren't immediately available. Voting were hourly production, maintenance, office and clerical employees of plants in Sparrows Point, Md.; Warren, Ohio, and Follansbee and Wheeling.
RG, a subsidiary of the private equity firm Renco Group, completed the purchase in March.
