Md. School Sorry For Asking Kids To Bring Knives
EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -- An elementary school principal in Emmitsburg is apologizing to parents for a letter asking students to bring knives to school.
The letter was an appeal for items that could be sent in care packages to U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Emmitsburg Elementary School Principal Kathryn Golightly told The Frederick News-Post on Wednesday that the school's Parent Teacher Association compiled the list. She says she should have read it more carefully before approving it for distribution.
Frederick County Public Schools policy prohibits students from having weapons of any kind on school property.
