Body Found In Car In Va. Identified As Md. Man

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a decomposing body found in the back seat of a car in Winchester, Va., is that of a Jefferson, Md. man.

The Frederick County, Va., sheriff's office says the remains are those of Paul Thomas. The cause of death hasn't been determined.

Authorities say Thomas, 48, was wanted in Stafford County, Va., for failing to appear on charges of driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run.

His girlfriend in Jefferson told investigators Thomas had gone to visit family in Manassas, Va.

His body was found Monday in the back seat of a sport utility vehicle in a parking lot near a restaurant and supermarket. The sheriff's office says the expired registration indicated the car was owned by Thomas and his former wife.
