Escaped Md. Inmate Captured In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland State Police say an inmate is back in custody one day after he escaped from the state prison complex near Hagerstown.

They say Baltimore City Police detectives and a state police fugitive team captured Jerome Taylor, 36, shortly after noon Tuesday in the 1000-block of Madison Ave. in Baltimore. Police say he was arrested while walking on the street and offered no resistance.

Taylor was serving a five-year sentence at the Maryland Correctional Training Center for firearms violations and filing a false police report.

The Division of Correction says Taylor walked off from a minimum-security outdoor job early Monday afternoon.

State Police investigators say he was picked up near the prison by a female acquaintance who drove him to Baltimore.
