Hood College In Md. Gives IPads To Incoming Frosh

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Hood College in Frederick says it's giving Apple iPads to all of its approximately 300 incoming freshman.

Some of those attending orientation sessions Monday told The Frederick News-Post the gift factored into their decision to attend the private, liberal-arts school.

President Ron Volpe says the machines contain an application that includes a campus map, school calendar and telephone directory.

Volpe says the school bought the iPads with funds donated by the estate of a Hood College graduate.

He says the program will be evaluated this fall to determine if the college should continue to give iPads to freshmen.
