Anne Arundel Co. Police Search For Suspects In Attempted Kidnapping

CROFTON, Md. (WJZ) -- A brazen attempt to abduct a woman jogging in Anne Arundel County has police searching for two men.

Kai Jackson has more.

It was a bold crime committed during daylight.  Anne Arundel County Police have suspect descriptions while people in the area have reason to be on guard.

There are heightened patrols by Anne Arundel County Police in a Crofton business park after an attempted abduction on Monday just after 7 p.m. in the 2100-block of Priest Bridge Drive.

"I am concerned," said Lorry Twisdale, an area worker.

Police say while a 29-year-old woman was jogging in the area, a man approached her and asked for directions to the post office.

Anne Arundel County police say after the first man asked for directions, a second man pulled up and asked the same thing.  Then the first man grabbed her.

"The younger suspect, who was on foot, took the opportunity to apparently grab or touch the victim inappropriately.  She was able to break free and yell for assistance.  That's when a citizen came in and intervened," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police.

Police say the suspect on foot fled the area while the man in the car drove away.

Police have released sketches of the suspects.  They say the man with the short haircut and freckles was on foot while the man in the hat was driving the car.

"I just have a feeling that somebody might have been watching somebody to pick that particular time to do something like that," said George Marshall, area worker.

Anyone with information about the attempted abduction is asked to call Anne Arundel County Police.
