Convicted Md. Killer Settles Civil Suit For $500K

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick man convicted last year of murdering his wife is agreeing to pay $500,000 in damages to her estate.

The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that the settlement averted a trial next week on a civil claim filed against Marshall Metz.

Metz's attorney says the agreement brings an end to the wrongful-death case filed in December by the estate of Ann Sue
Metz.

Marshall Metz is serving a prison sentence of life plus 20 years for shooting his wife with two separate guns at the home they once shared.
