Travis Pastrana Will Compete In Front Of Hometown Crowd At Monster Truck Jam

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- By Friday night, M&T Bank Stadium will be filled with 4,000 tons of dirt.  It's all for the Monster Truck Jam on Saturday.

Andrea Fujii tells us one of the main attractions is a local man.

Annapolis native Travis Pastrana is used to being behind the controls.  But he's also usually behind the wheel.   As a monster truck and X Games icon, Pastrana will be in Saturday's Monster Truck Jam.

"Driving anything is a lot of fun.  I race NASCAR rally cars and raced motorcycles, but I tell you nothing beats getting in a 2,000 horsepower truck," said Pastrana.

The show's been at 1st Mariner Arena since the early 90s, but this year it'll be in the open at M&T Bank Stadium.

"The event is probably twice the size of what you'd normally see in an arena," said Amy McWethy, organizer.

There's no need to worry about the field underneath. It's covered with plastic and plywood.

As Pastrana hoists his racing truck in the air to advertise the event, he looks forward to showing a hometown crowd his passion.

"Most kids their reality sets in and they have to get a real job, and I'm still driving trucks so it's been a lot of fun," said Pastrana.

Pastrana just finished filming a movie due out next year. He's also preparing for the summer's X Games.
