Teens Struck While Crossing Street In Severna Park

SEVERNA PARK, Md. (AP) --  Authorities say two teenagers have been struck by a car while crossing a highway in Severna Park.

Fire Battalion Chief Steve Thompson says a 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old male were hit in the 100-block of Ritchie Highway about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. Thompson says the teens were taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

He says the girl suffered life threatening injuries and the boy suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Thompson says a carnival was taking place near the incident.

The striking vehicle remained at the scene.
