BLOG: Two Orioles And Showalter Face Suspensions

Bud Selig came down on the Orioles today by handing out four-games suspensions to Kevin Gregg (and David Ortiz), a three-game suspension to Mike Gonzalez and one game to manager Buck Showalter, who will serve that suspension tonight when the O's open up a four-game series against the Indians. Reliever Jim Johnson was also fined an undisclosed amount for his involvement in the fight at Fenway Park last week that will certainly make next week's series against Boston at Camden Yards an exciting one.

Both Gregg and Gonzalez will appeal their suspensions -- Gregg was suspended only one other time in his career back in 2006. Red Sox manager Terry Francona, as of 5 pm today, has not heard from the commissioners office and therefore it's safe to assume he will not be reprimanded.
