Woman Who Poisoned Daughter To Stay In Prison

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A judge has denied a request to be put on home detention from a woman convicted of poisoning her 4-year-old daughter to draw attention to herself.

Frederick County Circuit G. Edward Dwyer Jr. denied 36-year-old Wendi Scott's request on Thursday. Dwyer, who sentenced Scott to 15 years in prison in 2008, said the woman nearly killed her child and his sentence was appropriate.

Scott pleaded guilty to first-degree child abuse for sickening her daughter to draw attention to herself, poisoning her with magnesium and using syringes to remove blood. The abuse occurred while the family was living at Fort Detrick.
