Teen Girl Killed In Crash Near Woodsboro

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick County school officials are identifying a girl who died in a car crash near Woodsboro.

A school system spokeswoman told The Frederick News-Post she was Jacqueline Shayuth, a rising senior at Walkersville High School.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says a male companion was critically injured in the crash shortly before midnight Wednesday.

Capt. Tim Clarke says they were passengers in a Mazda 626 sedan that hit a tree on Renner Road.

Clarke says the female driver suffered only minor injuries.

He says drugs or alcohol don't appear to have contributed to the crash.
