Ballfield Lease Dispute Deepens In Frederick
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A dispute over the lease terms for Frederick's minor-league baseball stadium is deepening.
The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that a majority of city aldermen want Mayor Randy McClement to release minutes from a closed meeting about the bidding process.
Alderman Karen Young is asking why City Hall favored the incumbent Frederick Keys over a bid from a group representing the independent Atlantic League. The Keys are affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles.
Young says the Atlantic League bid was stronger. She says she has documents supporting that position that she had planned to make public Wednesday before McClement pulled the lease discussion from the meeting agenda.
McClement says the proposed lease with the Keys isn't ripe for public discussion because some details need more work.
