Husband Of Missing Md. Woman Found Dead

ALLEN, Md. (AP) -- Wicomico County authorities say the husband of a missing teacher has been found dead in their Allen home.

County Sheriff Mike Lewis says Jesse Davis, 58, was found with a self-inflicted injury about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Davis had been working with Wicomico authorities regarding the disappearance of his 55-year-old wife, Alice Davis, a teacher at Parkside High School in Salisbury. Authorities had gone to the house Wednesday as part of their investigation.

Jesse Davis reported his wife missing on Monday. He had told investigators that she left their home Sunday evening to go shopping at a Walmart store. Her car was later found in a lot across from a Walmart in Fruitland.

Authorities said Wednesday that the search for Alice Davis has escalated into a criminal investigation.
