New Grant To Curb Gang Violence In Montgomery Co.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Lawmakers in Montgomery County are discussing a federal grant intended to reduce gang violence along the border with Prince George's County.

The $1.3 million grant would fund the Prince George's and Montgomery County Gang Initiative.

The initiative is aimed at curbing gang crime and violence, better sharing information and intelligence, and intervention and prevention activities.

The council is holding a series of informal meetings with County Executive Isiah Leggett.
