Public Input Sought In Easton Postal Decision

EASTON, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's senators are asking for transparency and public input over the fate of the Easton Area Mail Processing Center.

Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin have sent a letter to Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe because the Postal Service is again considering consolidating the Easton facility with a facility in Baltimore.

Donahoe's predecessor, John Potter, agreed to delay the final decision on the Easton consolidation study until this year. Potter agreed that the public would be allowed to have more input into the process.

Mikulski says the people of the Eastern Shore must be heard.

Cardin says the shore has a unique geography that needs to be taken into consideration.
