Girl Killed When Pickup Collides With Amish Buggy In Md.

CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. (AP) -- Police say a 12-year-old girl was killed when a pickup truck collided with an Amish horse-drawn buggy in St. Mary's County.

The crash occurred Saturday night at the intersection of Route 5 and Mount Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall.

The St. Mary's County sheriff's office says the buggy moved into the intersection during a green light but was still in the crossing when the light turned red.

Deputies say the pickup truck driver was heading north on Route 5 and didn't notice the buggy, which had three people inside. The resulting collision turned the buggy on its side.

One of the occupants, 12-year-old Saloma Kathleen Stoltzfus, died of her injuries. The other two occupants were treated and released.

The investigation continues, and the truck driver hasn't been charged.
