'Good Wife' Star Returns Home To Watch Ravens Game

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Baltimore native Josh Charles returned home this weekend to take in the Ravens game. It's something the "Good Wife" actor does a lot.

Mary Bubala reports that like so many of us, he's an obsessed football fan.

Actor Josh Charles mingled with the crowd before the Ravens game. He looks like the Emmy-nominated actor that he is until you get a closer look and you see his true color: purple -- a Ravens patch on his arm.

"Years ago I once turned a movie down because they wanted to shoot on Sundays and the Ravens weren't even very good at that point so that will give you an idea of how big of a Ravens fan I am," Charles said.

Sunday night, Charles spent some time on the sidelines-- a thrill for the actor, who comes to Baltimore for almost all the Ravens home games.

"The Ravens winning sadly affects my emotional state more than it probably should considering I just turned 40," Charles said.

Charles marked that milestone on CBS' "The Talk" earlier this month. And his passion for the purple birds was part of his gift: a Ravens football signed by Coach John Harbaugh, Joe Flacco and Ed Reed.

Charles also got 40 Berger cookies. And this weekend, he celebrated with his family in Baltimore, including one of our own who just had a big birthday!

"My cousin Ron Matz," Charles said.

"My cousin Josh Charles," Matz responded.

Ages "65, 40--look what I have to look forward to," Charles said with a laugh.

"It's not a pretty picture, is it?" Matz responded.

Remember you can see Josh Charles in the "Good Wife" here on WJZ  Sunday nights at 9 p.m.
