Annapolis Market House Sales Slow, Report Says

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Sales are off to a slow start at Annapolis' renovated Market House.

A report presented to Annapolis city officials earlier this month says sales have been about 60 to 75 percent of industry standards. The Capital of Annapolis reported Sunday that FranPoint Partners, which is managing the market, says the firm hoped vendors would generate about $300 to $350 per square foot, but they have been bringing in about $195 per square foot.

City officials are hoping to breathe new life into the downtown landmark, which first opened in 1788. Eight food-related vendors and one retailer began operating in July in the market which had sat vacant for years as previous revitalization efforts were beset by air conditioning issues and legal disputes.
