Delmarva Chicken Festival Returning To Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- An annual celebration of the Delmarva region's poultry industry is scheduled to return to Salisbury next year.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that the 63rd Delmarva Chicken Festival will be held at The Centre at Salisbury on June 15 and 16

Bill Satterfield, executive director of Delmarva Poultry Industry Inc., says it will be the 14th time the festival has been held in Salisbury. The annual event moves through the towns in the region.

The chicken festival began in Georgetown in 1948 as a way to showcase Delmarva's poultry industry. At last year's event in Georgetown, organizers said more than 2,000 chickens were fried in a 10-foot frying pan.
