BLOG: Chilly And Bright

A pretty decent weather scenario the next 4-5 days with rising temperatures, no rainfall and plenty of sunshine. On the morning weather map, high pressure is situated up near Lake Ontario this morning and is delivering the chill this morning as low pressure (the Denver snowstorm from several days ago) sits spinning several hundred miles east of South Carolina over the Atlantic. Another storm system is out in the intermountain West, and another storm system is set to move into Oregon and northern California later today.

The High pressure center from Ontario will be only slowly drifting south and eastward the next couple of days and will be kind of then holding its general position near the mid-Atlantic coast and sliding slowly eastward into midweek as a large upper-level ridge builds over the eastern third of the nation. That will bring us the nice weather with a warming trend through at least Tuesday. Meanwhile, that storm will be spinning down in the Atlantic through Wednesday and eventually some of its moisture will be drawn into our area. The moisture will not be drawn into our area by the first storm out in the Intermountain West as this storm will be deflected northward into Manitoba Canada tomorrow and then continue northeastward around the periphery of the upper level ridge building in the East. The storm system that will be moving into Oregon and northern California today will take a trip southeastward and start to generate a new low pressure into the southern and central Plains Monday. Then this low too will ride northward, but will have a cold front that comes eastward. This front will also help to draw part of the Atlantic storm system, or at least its moisture, northward, and at the same time our friend for the next four days being high pressure will slide northeastward into the Atlantic with an easterly flow of additional moisture. This moisture and the front will combine to bring us some wet weather later in the week. At this point it looks like the easterly flow will start to develop and bring some more noticeable clouds in for us on Wednesday with rain slated to hold off until Wednesday night or Thursday.

Until then though, enjoy the tranquil and warmer trending weather.
