ATF Agent Injured During Operation In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Federal agents swarmed Southwest Baltimore Monday night after an enforcement operation led to a wild crash.

Kai Jackson has exclusive video of the moment of impact.

The video shows an out-of-control SUV and an army of federal agents pursuing it.

"It was coming real fast and we all jumped up and everyone ran," said an eyewitness.

Witnesses say it started with gunshots moments earlier. Agents with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms confirm that 40 agents and Baltimore police took part in an ongoing enforcement action but they declined to give details.

"The bad guy tried to escape through my parking lot," said Te Shin.

Surveillance video captured another angle as the SUV barreled into a Chevy Trailblazer.

"I was scared and trying to figure out which way to run and which way not to run," the witness said.

Witnesses say after the vehicle flew through a parking lot, it crashed into a utility pole on Patapsco Avenue, narrowly missing two vehicles.

One ATF agent was injured in the pursuit. That agent was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Seven suspects are in custody, officials say. Four of them were injured. Those injuries are non-life threatening.

This is an ongoing investigation, so the ATF declines to go into specifics about exactly what happened.
