Frostburg State Student Indicted On Murder Charge

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) --  A female Frostburg State University student has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the stabbing of another female student.

The indictment of Shanee Liggins, 23, of Waldorf was announced Monday.

An Allegany County grand jury issued the indictment Nov. 16 charging her with murdering Kortneigh McCoy, 19, of Baltimore outside an off-campus party Nov. 6. Liggins has been in custody since then.

She told police that someone else stabbed McCoy.

Her initial appearance in circuit court is set for Dec. 20.

Liggins has retained private defense attorneys William Brennan and William Mitchell of Greenbelt. They defended Frostburg State student Tyrone Hall against murder and attempted-murder charges last year. He's serving five years for manslaughter.

Mitchell says the defense has no comment on Liggins' case.
