Baltimore Co. Hires Firm To Search For Superintendent
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore County school board has hired a national search firm to help choose a new superintendent.
The Baltimore Sun reports the board signed a contract this week with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates. Board President Lawrence Schmidt says the company was chosen because it has a good record of getting input from different groups.
The current schools superintendent, Joe Hairston, is leaving on June 30 after 12 years in the position.
The school board will meet with representatives from the firm on Dec. 14 to outline the search process. Schmidt says he hopes the board will sign a contract with a new superintendent in mid-May.
Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates has also conducted searches for Baltimore City, and Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Montgomery and Fairfax, Va., counties.
