Girl, 17, Stabbed Outside Silver Spring School

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County authorities say they are investigating the stabbing of a 17-year-old girl outside a Silver Spring high school.

Police say they found the victim suffering from several stab wounds to the lower torso at Northwood High School about 9 p.m. Tuesday. The girl was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victim had been attending a basketball game at the high school. Authorities say the victim's friend got into an altercation with another female after the game, and that the victim was stabbed while trying to quell the fight. Police say they believe two people were involved in the stabbing.

The victim is a student at Montgomery Blair High School.
