Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport To Get $100M Makeover

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport will be getting a $100 million makeover.

The state Board of Public Works on Wednesday unanimously approved funds for the renovation of the oldest part of the terminal over two years. The Baltimore Sun reports that BWI will pay for the project using revenue from gate leases, fees and rent.

The airport recorded its busiest year ever last year, with visits from 22 million passengers. But officials say the Concourse C security portal and corridor have become a bottleneck, where the wait could grow to 90 minutes without more screening stations.

The renovations will create space for more stations and add new concessions in Concourse C. It will also allow passengers to move between concourses A, B and C without passing through security again.
