Md. Firm Recalls Korean Cake Because Of Eggs

HANOVER, Md. (AP) -- A Hanover company is recalling Korean Cake, or Gyeong Dan, because the product contains undeclared eggs.

Rhee Bros. Inc. said Tuesday that it is recalling its 8-ounce packages of ASSI brand Korean Cake. The cakes were distributed nationwide to Asian food retail stores.

The product is wrapped in plastic wrap on a tray. Its item number is 20649D on the label. The package is labeled ASSI, KOREAN RICE CAKE (GYEONG DAN).

Rhee Bros. says no illnesses have been reported and that a sampling by food inspectors in New York state found that product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg.

Consumers are urged to return the product to the place of urchase for a refund.
