Va, Md. Students Gear Up For Robotics Challenge

ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) -- High school students from Maryland and Virginia are gearing up for a robotics competition at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility.

Officials say the students will converge at the Eastern Shore facility's visitor center on Saturday as part of the 2012 FIRST Robotics competition.

Teams will build robots and compete in an assigned game challenge against other teams from the mid-Atlantic region and then, hopefully, move on to compete nationally.

The kick-off is open to the public beginning at 9 a.m. when teams that participated in the 2011 competition display their
robots.

Students will then learn the 2012 game challenge at 10 a.m., which will be announced live from the competition's home in Manchester, N.H.
