Ivey Ends Bid To Unseat Rep. Edwards In Md.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former prosecutor Glenn Ivey is ending his Democratic primary challenge to Rep. Donna Edwards in Maryland's 4th District.

Ivey said in a statement Wednesday that he found it difficult to raise enough money to get his message out in the Washington and Baltimore media markets. A spokesman says Ivey had raised about $160,000.

The former Prince George's County state's attorney announced his campaign in October and began raising money. He had not filed paperwork to get his name on the ballot. The deadline for that filing was 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Edwards has held the seat since 2008 and faces two other Democratic primary incumbents, although neither is as well-known as Ivey. The reconstituted 4th District is solidly Democratic and includes parts of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties.
