D.C.'s Ticket Amnesty Program Ending This Month
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A program allowing drivers in the District of Columbia to pay outstanding tickets without any penalties is coming to an end this month.
The D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles' ticket amnesty program will wrap up on Jan. 27, nearly six months after it began.
The program is offered to anyone who received a parking or driving ticket in the district prior to Jan. 1, 2010.
DMV administrator Lucinda Babers says people are rushing to take advantage of the program before it ends. Babers says drivers have paid $3.1 million worth of tickets so far.
Tickets can be paid online, by phone or in person at DMV Adjudication Services on C Street in northwest.
The last time D.C. offered a ticket amnesty program was in 2001.
