Small Goat Found Wandering In Md. With Heavy Chain

LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) -- A female goat is recovering after being found wandering with a heavy chain around her neck near Linthicum, and authorities are trying to find the goat's owner.

Police say an 11-year-old child found the goat named Tuscany on Thursday. The chain around Tuscany's neck wasn't tight but weighed more than 20 pounds. It was so heavy, it had become embedded in her neck.

A family took the goat to Anne Arundel County Animal Control, and the chain was removed during a surgery Friday. She will remain at the Animal Control office while she recovers.

The county is searching for information on the goat's owner. In a statement, officials said no animal should have to suffer the pain Tuscany endured.
