Blaze Causes Heavy Damage To Ijamsville Home

IJAMSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a blaze ripped through a home in Ijamsville over the weekend, causing smoke to billow across Interstate 70.

Steve Leatherman of the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services says the fire in the 9000-block of Ritchie Court was reported about 8:40 p.m. Sunday. Leatherman tells The Frederick News-Post that high winds hampered the efforts of firefighters but that the blaze was brought under control by about 9:30 p.m.

He says a family who was at home at the time escaped unharmed.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
