Cut Costs By Lowering Temperature On Water Heater
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Water heating is the third largest energy expense for the home.
Jessica Kartalija reports it typically accounts for 12 percent of the utility bill.
There are a few ways to cut costs. First, lower the thermostat on the water heater. They often come from the factory with high temperature settings.
Insulate the electric hot water storage tank. Be careful not to cover your thermostat.
Lastly, try insulating the first six feet of the hot and cold water pipes connected to the water heater.
