Man Convicted Of Killing Off-Duty Md. Trooper

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A man who prosecutors say fatally shot an off-duty state trooper after getting thrown out of a restaurant has been convicted of first-degree murder.

Prince George's County Circuit Court convicted Cyril Cornelius Williams on Friday after a five-day trial. He will be sentenced May 10, when prosecutors will ask for life without parole.

Prosecutors say on June 11, 2010, Trooper Wesley Brown was off duty working security at an Applebee's restaurant in Forestville. Brown told Williams, who was disorderly, to leave. Williams called friend and arranged to get a gun, then returned to the restaurant and shot Brown, 24, who had stepped outside to make a phone call.
